Drove past the start of a grass fire on my way home. Must have just started when I saw it because before I called 911, there wasn’t any smoke. Most of Texas is in drought, once again, which means even the tiniest spark can ignite a massive forest fire 😥
I came home to fire ants all over my house. These invasive species are ubiquitous in central Texas, more so in some areas than others. My house is in one of the “more so” areas. If I dig in any random spot of my yard, 3 times out of 4 I’ve hit a fire ant nest. Even better: they love being lazy and taking up residence in walls. AND they’ll chew up your walls to get into your house! I have to keep a tube of caulk on hand at all times to patch up the numerous holes they’ve chewed.
